PITTSBURGH, PA - With temperatures more like January than March much of the week, you're probably thinking this is a poor time for a weekend food truck festival. That would be true if it was outside, but this one you can enjoy dozens of food trucks in a temperature-controlled indoor environment.
Food Truck A Palooza offers the cuisine of 35 different vendors, including
Beatnik Eats Sweets & Desserts, Bruster's Ice Cream, BullDawgs, Burgh Bites, The Coop Chicken and Waffles, CluckTruck, Cool Beans Taco Truck,
Curly Tail Coffee, Edgar's Best Tacos in Pittsburgh, Evil Swine BBQ, Fry Master Truck and The Hummus Truck.
Also representing will be Hoshi, The Kobob Mob Food Truck, Kona Ice,
Kilimanjaro Flavour, La Palapa, Lone Wolf Grill, Mr Bulgogi, Main Squeeze, Juice, Mobile Chef, Nakama, Oakmont BBQ Company, Parrot Bay Café,
Pgh Crepes and Pgh Halal Truck.
Food Truck A Palooza occurs March 9 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Monroeville Convention Center. Bon appetit!
Other weekend highlights:
- Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show, March 7, 4 p.m.-10 p.m.; March 8-9, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; March 10, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
With spring on the horizon, here's a chance to shop a marketplace that's 10 acres in size and has more than 1,800 exhibits in the 38th annual home and garden show. You'll find a garden pavilion, construction and remodeling center, home interior galleries, kitchen and cooking collection, children's village and more.
- Jerry Seinfeld, March 8, 7 p.m., Benedum Center.
One of America's premier comedians will perform his signature stand-up routine. In addition to the classic "Seinfeld" show, his more recent projects include the Emmy-nominated web series "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee," and his Netflix special "Jerry Before Seinfeld."
- Aziz Ansari Road To Nowhere, March 9, 7: 30 p.m., Heinz Hall
The comedian and "Parks and Recreation" and "Master of None" star has embarked on his first stand-up tour since allegations of sexual misconduct against him surfaced last year. He reportedly has addressed the accusations in some of his shows on this tour. Will he do so in Pittsburgh?
- Penguins vs. Boston Bruins, March 10, 7:30 p.m., PPG Paints Arena
With precious few games left in the regular season, the maddeningly inconsistent Pens battle the Bruins as they attempt to avoid missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2005-06 season. The Bruins, in second place in the Eastern Conferences's Atlantic Division, will be a tough challenge.
